La Sanguineti's Wunderkammer

The Edoardo Sanguineti Research Centre brings together and compares documents of various kind held in different archives. Each archive is referred to as a "theca", evoking the classical concept of the Wunderkammer - a cabinet of curiosities where collectors preserve their rarest pieces. The notions of collection and Wunderkammer appear frequently in Sanguineti’s works. The former is strictly connected to the idea of mania and obsession (cfr. Memorie di un lessicomane, «l'Unità», 8 April 2004), while the latter refers to the space in which the collector gather their collection, even in an apparently unordered fashion. The term echoes both in his poetic work (1998) and his lexicographic production (Prolegomena, in GDLI, Supplemento 2004).
